ATEX Uni-Mill control panel

Over-Driven Conical Mills are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. McKinCo recently supplied a control panel for one of these mills for a pharmaceutical customer. The panel was to be located in a hazardous area.

Consisting of a special 316L stainless steel enclosure certified for use in ATEX Zone 22, the panel consisted of an Allen Bradley Micro820 PLC alongside an Allen Bradley 4.3” PanelView Plus 7 touchscreen HMI with a number of hardwired controls on the door.

In addition there was an Allen Bradley PowerFlex 525 VSD for the mill motor, plus all the components required to monitor, and provide power and control to, the Uni-Mill.
